Our Partnership with Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI)
Within the Trust, it is recognised that QI will help us realise our ambitions as a new organisation. The engagement of a QI Strategic Partner was identified by the Executive Team to enable the spread of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) across the North London NHS Foundation Trust at scale and pace and formed an integral component of the integration Patient Benefit Case as one of the four priority pathways. Following a rigorous procurement process, the Institute of Healthcare Improvement (IHI) have been appointed and will be working with us for a 3-year period.
This is an excellent and exciting opportunity for us to achieve the vision to create a culture of continuous improvement, embedding QI at every level of the Trust, both clinical and non-clinical and becoming a centre of QI excellence across the system and nationally. The benefits in achieving this will be demonstrable to our service users, carers and staff.

Reflections on our Year 1 Annual Visit
On 27-28 November 2025, we had the pleasure of welcoming colleagues from the Institute of Healthcare Improvement (IHI) for our Year 1 Annual Visit - an important milestone in the IHI/NLFT partnership. Across 2 energising days, teams from across the Trust came together to showcase their work, reflect on their learning, and openly discuss the opportunities ahead as we continue to strengthen our culture of improvement.
This visit wasn't just about presentation or updates, it was a chance to tell our story - one of creativity, determination, collaboration, and a growing confidence in using improvement methods to make meaningful change for and with our service users, carers, and staff.
Throughout the visit, teams proudly shared:
- The progress made in embedding improvement practices
- Real examples of change in action
- A culture growing in confidence and capability
- Insightful reflections on what's working - and what we're still learning
- And so much more!
We deeply appreciated IHI's encouragement and willingness to listen. Their questions sparked valuable discussions, and their reflections helped us see both our strengths and our opportunities with fresh clarity. As you'll hear in Pedro's video highlights below, the energy and commitment across NLFT left a strong impression and shares his reflections from across the 2-day visit.

We extend our thanks to every NLFT team / staff member who contributed, presented, hosted and supported this visit.
