National QI Week 2026: Celebrating Improvement Across NLFT

14-18 September 2026

At North London NHS Foundation Trust, Quality Improvement is about empowering staff to identify opportunities, test ideas, learn from data and make meaningful changes that improve care and outcomes for the people we serve. This September, we are joining colleagues across the country in celebrating National Quality Improvement Week 2026 with a programme of events designed to inspire, connect and develop our improvement community. National QI Week provides an opportunity to recognise the incredible improvement work taking place across NLFT, share learning from successful projects and encourage more colleagues to get involved in Quality Improvement.
  • Kicking Off the Week with the QI Roadshow - The week begins on Monday 14 September with our QI Roadshow, where members of the QI Team will visit sites across the Trust to meet staff, promote Quality Improvement and showcase opportunities to get involved. Whether you are new to QI or already leading improvement work, the Roadshow is an opportunity to learn more about the support available and how Quality Improvement can help teams address challenges and achieve sustainable change.

  • Supporting Our QI Coaches - On Tuesday 15 September, we will host QI Coach Support sessions, providing a dedicated space for QI Coaches to continue developing their skills, build confidence and share learning with fellow coaches. Strong coaching is fundamental to building improvement capability across the Trust, and these sessions help ensure our coaches feel supported in their role.

  • Learning Through QI in Action - On Wednesday 16 September, colleagues will have the opportunity to join our QI Showcase, where teams will share their improvement projects, achievements and learning. The Showcase is one of the highlights of the improvement calendar, providing an opportunity to hear directly from colleagues about the challenges they have tackled, the changes they have tested and the impact they have achieved. Alongside the Showcase, QI Foundations Training for Ward Managers will support participants to develop their knowledge of Quality Improvement methods and practical approaches to leading change.

  • Building Capability Through the QI Academy - The QI Academy continues to play a key role in developing improvement skills across NLFT. On Thursday 17 September, senior leaders will take part in the Strategic Leaders Programme delivered in partnership with the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI). This programme supports leaders to strengthen their understanding of improvement and embed a culture of continuous improvement within their services. There will also be opportunities to access QI Foundations Training, helping colleagues gain an introduction to the essential principles, methods and tools of Quality Improvement.

  • Strengthening Improvement Leadership - National QI Week concludes on Friday 18 September with the second day of the Strategic Leaders Programme, continuing to build the confidence, knowledge and capability of leaders across the Trust. Effective leadership is critical to creating environments where improvement can thrive, and investing in leadership development helps ensure improvement becomes part of everyday practice.

National QI Week is about more than a series of events. It is an opportunity to celebrate the passion, creativity and commitment of colleagues who are working every day to improve services for staff and service users.

Whether you are attending a training session, presenting at the QI Showcase, meeting the team during the Roadshow or simply curious to learn more about Quality Improvement, we encourage you to get involved.

We look forward to celebrating National QI Week 2026 with you.
